Your child will grow up alongside AI. We want them building with it, not just scrolling past it.
Coding is a way of thinking.
Breaking a big problem into small steps, testing an idea and fixing what went wrong. These habits show up in maths, science and even essay writing long before they show up in a job.
AI rewards people who understand it.
AI tools can write code now, but someone still has to know what to ask for, notice when the answer is wrong and fit the pieces together. Children who learn the fundamentals early get to direct these tools instead of depending on them.
Making beats consuming.
Most screen time is passive. An hour of coding ends with a game, an animation or a program your child made themselves, and that sense of pride is what keeps them coming back.
Starting early makes it easier.
Young learners pick up new languages quickly, and programming languages are no different. Scratch at six becomes Python at nine and machine learning at twelve, with each step building on the last.

Courses
Every course is taught 1:1 and shaped around the learner. These are starting points, not fixed syllabuses.
Scratch, ages 6+
Drag-and-drop blocks, real programming ideas. Children build animations, stories and games while learning loops, events and logic, without having to type a line of syntax.
Python, ages 9+
The language professionals use every day, made approachable. Learners write their first real programs, from quizzes and text adventures to simple games, building habits that carry straight into school computing and beyond.
AI and Machine Learning, ages 12+
How does a computer learn to recognise a cat? Teens find out by building it. Using Python, they train simple models, explore how chatbots work and learn to use AI tools thoughtfully and safely.
Python, professionals and university students
From your first line of code to automating your own work. Ideal for professionals tired of repetitive tasks and for students who need Python for their degree.
SQL, professionals and university students
Ask your data questions and get real answers. Learn to query, join and summarise databases, the core skill behind analytics and reporting roles.
AI, Machine Learning and Prompt Engineering, professionals and university students
Use AI properly, not just casually. Understand how models work, write prompts that give reliable results and build small machine learning projects in Python.

Send a message on WhatsApp or email with the learner's age and what interests them. No forms, no commitment.
Meet your tutor.
The first lesson is a relaxed 1:1 video call. We find the right starting level, and the learner builds something on day one.

Joshua Bonham
Founder and lead tutor
I'm a software engineer specialising in machine learning and AI, and I already teach children to code one-to-one every week. I started Coral Coders to bring that same patient, personal teaching to families across Mauritius and South Africa.
My lessons are hands-on from the first minute. Learners build real things, make mistakes, fix them and understand why. That is how confidence grows, whether you are six or forty.
- Education
- Bachelor of Software Engineering (Hons), Sunway University and Lancaster University. CGPA 3.95, six-time Dean's List, Jeffrey Cheah Entrance Scholarship.
- Teaching
- Coding tutor to 14 young learners 1:1, covering Scratch, Minecraft Education and Python.
- Industry
- Built AI workflows as a Data Scientist Intern at Touch 'n Go Digital, and shipped AI features as a Junior Software Engineer at the travel startup Plandora.
- Certified
- Oracle Cloud Infrastructure 2025 Certified Generative AI Professional.
- Hackathon
- 1st Runner-Up and Best Pitch at ImagineHack 2024.
- Community
- Coordinated a five-week Generative AI Study Jam for over 900 participants.
Questions parents ask
Yes. Your first 60-minute lesson is free, with no obligation to continue. It is a chance to meet the tutor, try a real lesson and find the right starting point.
Lessons are 60 minutes. Longer sessions are available on request.
Lessons run live over Zoom or Google Meet. The tutor and learner share screens, so every idea can be explained, tried and debugged together in real time.
A laptop or desktop computer with a working camera and microphone, plus a stable internet connection. Tablets and phones make coding much harder, so a computer is strongly recommended.
Usually not. Most children work happily on their own with the tutor. If your child needs help with something that cannot be done over a video call, such as setting up their computer, it helps to have an adult nearby.
After school, at weekends and during school holidays. Times are arranged around your schedule, for families in both Mauritius and South Africa.
Pricing is tailored to the course and the schedule you choose. Send a message and we will put together an option that suits you.
Yes. You can reschedule for free up to 12 hours before the lesson starts.
Parents receive a progress update once a month, covering what was learnt, what was built and what comes next.
Not at all. Most young learners start from zero, and every course adapts to the learner's level and pace.
All lessons are taught in English.
